Today’s been a busy day for me at the Banff World Television Festival, with a few one-on-one interviews and some interesting sessions, which I’ll write about later. First up is a short piece from my interview with Rob Thomas, creator of Veronica Mars — I’ll have more with him later:
The Mars fans keep sending me e-mails asking me to mention their Mars Bar campaign to save the show, à la the successful Jericho nut campaign. I’m not sure this is what they were hoping for.
It’s too bad that VM’s dead, but I can’t help but think that it’s for the best. I think that all the worries over renewal were taking their toll, and that the show suffered as a result. Better for it to go out now than to waste away to a husk of what it once was. I’ll always remember that glorious first season!
I didn’t even know about the Mars bars, but I am sad that it got canceled. I like the series, and the storylines/possible future storylines were anything but boring/standard/predictable.
So I don’t know why ratings were low (I assume that’s why it got axed?).
Now, how do I tell this my VM addicted friend…?
the cw was joking with us!! they could tell this a mounth ago!! I hate them!
Nice interview, Diane. I look forward to reading more.
