Great “so-far on House” analysis!
I’m not a big Amber fan (big 13 fan though), but agree wholeheartedly with the rest.
And one name reference in particular made me laugh out loud to the point of tears 😉
If you find yourself in a war and the troops opposite you are Canadian, my advice would be, “Run away!” Canadian troops raided Dieppe, France, on a suicide mission in World War II, but they fought courageously. In the previous war, Canadians fought fiercely in France, as Fawley Mowat recounted in a book. Canadians are not so meek.
Er, what? I think this comment must be misplaced, but if it’s for the previous post, your sense of humour might be misplaced too.
While House’s attitude towards his colleagues has always been loudly negative, his behavior has always shown that he needs to bounce ideas off other people. Even when stuck in a plane in “Airborne” (which for me, thanks to DeeKay’s inspired re-naming, will always be “Snarks on a Plane”) the first thing he did when a medical mystery came up was to draft three random passengers who actually proved to be helpful in arriving at the DX.
House may be professionally misanthropic, but at some level he knows that he really can’t work alone.
He definitely knows it, but won’t admit it. Though he was stalling taking cases again, after pretty much getting over that in past seasons. My point was more that the season premiere’s purpose was to explore his method.
Yay, a mini-review!
I’ve been surprised at how much I like the new peeps, and how little I miss the old. Especially Foreman.
Amber’s really grown on me, and I love the old Not-Doc. My favorite so far is the plastic surgeon, I think. Mostly because the actor is a total HiTG who’s been on Law & Order, Scrubs, etc.
Do you find yourself enjoying the show a little more now that you don’t have to crank out a witty and insightful review the next day? I imagine that’s a relief.
Aw, thanks, and definitely, that was one of my reasons for not doing episode reviews anymore – it’s sooo nice to be able to just sit back and watch the show and not have the back of my mind working on what I might say about it at the same time.
Plastic surgeon guy hasn’t really registered for me yet – he does look familiar, but not quite at HiTG levels to me (probably haven’t seen enough of his guest roles). Not sure why I get such a kick out of Amber, but she cracks me up, especially that little tattletale exchange with Kutner.
Great to read your commentary on “House” again. I pretty much agree on it all. Good job.
Wait, I want to hear more about the troops.
Canadians fought in a war?
When?
Did they shoot maple syrup? I don’t believe this at all. I think you’re making that part about Canadians fighting in a war up.
I think that Kai Penn is da bomb by the way.
