I love my day job, mostly, except for its culture of “everything’s an emergency.” Which is sometimes sadly true, but more often there’s an artificial sense of urgency to every project. In my department, we’re all working flat-out in our own little niches, so there’s no one to pick up the slack when we take vacation. Since I’m taking this week off, there were a lot of late nights last week, and I went in on the weekend to finish projects that could definitely have waited until I got back … except that there will be a pile of new work with looming deadlines by then. Sniff – poor me. It’s worth it though. I may love my job, but I love vacations more. I won’t be posting while I’m gone, so I’ll “see” you in a week or so.
But…but…
There’s a new HOUSE on Tuesday.
Fine. Ok.
Fine.
Fine.
Yup.
Fine.
I mean.
Be that way.
Sure.
Fine.
Ok.
Have “fun.” Whatever that is.
Rub it in, why don’t you?! Geez. A new House, a new Scrubs, and the premieres of two series I want to see, at the exact same moment I’ll be on a plane. It was hard prioritizing real life over TV, let me tell you. (Though in a way, I sort of didn’t … shhh, don’t tell, I’ll write about it later).
Sounds like you need a holiday. I hear Vancouver’s fun.
