Every Wednesday at pretty much 9:01 p.m. Pacific time – my time zone – I get an e-mail from CityTV, a media release with the latest elimination on Canada’s Next Top Model. That’s 9:01 p.m. because that’s when the show finishes airing in this last time zone. 9:01 so they’re not spoiling the show for anyone, no matter where they live.
Today, the evening of the finale, I was set to have dinner and then curl up on the couch watching the rain and my guilty pleasure, Canada’s Next Top Model. Shut up, it’s fun. So I open my e-mail at 6:45 and there it is – the CityTV e-mail. The subject line blares the winner’s name. I can’t avert my eyes in time. It’s 6:45 p.m. 6:45, dammit! This is the curse, I guess, of getting sucked into a trashy show when I should be simply dispassionately posting information about it.
Oh well, I guess I have more discs of The Wire to watch. It was really a Canada’s Next Top Model kind of day, though. Yup, that brain-draining.
It’s small consolation that I picked the winner, at least.
Can you get HBO/Movie Central to email you or us explanations for each episode of ‘John From Cincinnati’ each Sunday at, oh say, 10:01pm CST?
Actually, make it 6:45pm…see if being in the know makes it easier to grasp.
(Not to say I still don’t dig it…I don’t really get it, but I dig it.)
I thought this topic was about Hugh Laurie NOT being nominated for an Emmy, but it’s not.
It’s just WRONG, WRONG, WRONG that he’s not on the list of nominees.
Oh well, I’ll guess that he and all the other people who put “House” together will just have to take consolation from their high ratings, and I will have to take consolation that the show will not be disappearing anytime soon.
But … he is nominated. So was the show.
Perhaps “Sigh!” should apply to me when I try to read small print onscreen without sufficient caffeine in my system. Yes, I was mistaken, and now that I have learned of my error, I could not be happier. How many times can I say that about something?
I decided to check out your TV, Eh? website, oh, I guess it was around midnight last night. I just wanted one last check of the day’s news before I turned off my computer and went to bed to watch the CNTM finale, which I had taped earlier.
I won’t be visiting TV, Eh? from now on, if I know there’s even the slimmest chance of being spoiled by something I might read there. Finding out that Rebecca had won…what a let-down. 🙁
Not your fault, Diane. It was mine for not thinking ahead.
I didn’t post it until after the show finished airing in BC. Anyone who records shows for later should know by now not to visit Internet TV sites if they’re afraid of finding out details, so I make no apologies for that. Otherwise, how long do you hold on? A day? Two? A week? While it’s all over Google News and every other site?
I popped by your website about 5 minutes after the credits finished rolling on the show on the west coast (just after midnight here in my New York/Toronto timezone).
I just didn’t think you’d have the news up so soon. You’re so damn efficient, so on the ball. LOL
Heh, I was watching the final minutes with my finger on “Publish.” I knew from last year – this is the kind of thing that brings in a TON of hits to the site.
